CNC machining in Bangalore, including PEEK
Print Forge provides CNC milling, turning and post-processing in Bengaluru (Bangalore), from single prototypes to production runs, alongside 3D printing, sheet metal and injection moulding. We work from ISRO Layout in south Bengaluru, and PEEK and other engineering polymers are a particular focus.

CNC machining services in Bengaluru
The work covers milled and turned parts made to your drawing, and post-processing of printed parts where an interface needs machined accuracy. Send the material you need, whether an engineering polymer or a metal, and the quotation confirms the route, the scope of supply and the inspection. If your supplier approval needs a machine list, axis count or work envelope, ask for it in the brief.
PEEK machining in Bangalore
PEEK machines well, but it behaves differently from aluminium or steel. These are the points that decide whether a tight PEEK part holds its tolerances.
Stock form and grade
PEEK comes as rod, plate and tube, in unfilled, glass-filled, carbon-filled and bearing grades. Name the grade on the drawing. Filled grades are stiffer but abrasive, so edges and tool wear differ from unfilled PEEK. Industrial grades such as VICTREX 450G and implant grades such as Invibio PEEK-OPTIMA are different materials with different documentation. Named grades are manufacturer references, not a Print Forge stock list or Print Forge test results. Specify the grade your application requires; the quotation confirms the material supplied.
Heat and residual stress
PEEK conducts heat poorly, so heat stays at the cutting edge. Sharp tools and controlled cutting conditions keep the surface from smearing. Heavy material removal also releases stresses in the stock, and a thin part can move after it leaves the fixture. For tight features, a rough cut, a stress-relief anneal and a finishing cut is a common sequence.
Measuring tight tolerances on plastics
Polymers expand far more with temperature than metals do. For features toleranced in hundredths of a millimetre, state the measurement temperature on the drawing and allow the part to stabilise before inspection.
Cleanliness
For semiconductor or medical development parts, specify any coolant restrictions, cleaning method and packaging. Typical machined PEEK parts include insulators, seals, bearings and bushes, wafer-handling fixtures and robotic end-effectors.
Machining printed parts: print near net, machine the interfaces
Printing produces complex geometry quickly, starting at ±0.3% (minimum ±0.3 mm). Bores, sealing faces, threads and datums often need better. The practical route is to print the part with machining stock on those features, then machine them, starting at ±0.020 mm. Design the part with a flat or cylindrical datum that can be held in a fixture, and say which features are machined in the drawing notes.
Designing parts for CNC machining
- Internal corners take the radius of the tool. Specify the largest radius the design allows; sharp internal corners need extra operations.
- Deep, narrow pockets need long tools that deflect and chatter. Keep pocket depth modest relative to width.
- Thin walls vibrate and, in plastics, move. Thicken them or support them with ribs where you can.
- Put tight tolerances only on the features that need them, and reference them to clear datums with GD&T.
- Call out thread standard, pitch and depth, and whether inserts are acceptable.
- Specify surface finish (Ra) only where it matters, and note edge-break and deburring requirements.
Flat parts, enclosures and brackets may suit sheet metal (laser cutting, bending and post-processing, to ±0.1 mm, from 5 business days). When volumes justify tooling, injection moulding covers 1 to 1,000,000 parts.
What to send for a CNC machining quote
- CAD: STEP or IGES for design review and quoting; STL or 3MF if you only have print-ready mesh geometry.
- A PDF drawing with units, revision, datums, the critical dimensions and their tolerances, threads and fits.
- Material: grade and stock condition (for PEEK, unfilled, glass-filled, carbon-filled or bearing grade), or the printed blank to be machined.
- Finish: surface finish (Ra) callouts, edge-break notes, cleaning and packaging requirements.
- Quantity and timing: the first batch, expected repeat volumes and a target delivery date.
- Inspection and documents: whether you need a dimensional inspection report, material traceability or other records.
- Confidential designs: tick discuss an NDA before sharing files in the quote form. You can start the conversation without attaching CAD.
Quotes are returned within 24 hours of a complete brief. The design-review checklist lists the questions an engineering review will ask.
Frequently asked questions
What tolerance can you hold on CNC machined parts?
The starting capability is ±0.020 mm. Geometry, material, quantity and finishing determine the final tolerances and lead time in the quotation. On PEEK and other polymers, state the measurement temperature for tight features.
Do you machine PEEK from stock or from printed blanks?
Both routes are possible. Machining from stock suits simple, tightly toleranced parts; printing near net shape and machining the interfaces suits complex geometry. Describe the part and quantity and the quotation recommends a route.
Can I get an inspection report with machined parts?
Yes, if you ask for it. Dimensional inspection checks the specified features against the drawing. Include the report, sampling and traceability you need in the brief; for NDT, SPC or certification documents, name the method or standard, and the quotation sets out the scope.
How long does CNC machining take?
CNC machining starts from 5 business days, and quotes are returned within 24 hours of a complete brief. The delivery date in the quotation depends on material, geometry, quantity and finishing.
